there were gasps after watching this.

i heard the anti college talks at the dc this year, and while many people i know didnt agree with them, this following video stunned many of them.

there are many people on this forum, many have gotten to where they are many different ways.

In this case, kids that go to college will leave the faith. Then conversely, kids that don't go to college all stay in the faith. WRONG! Many that don't go to college still leave the J-dubs. College or no college, the kids have the right to decide for themselves.

Me? I trusted in Jehovah. And he and his bOrganization screwed me, big time. I wish I'd gone to college.

Ah yes, let's examine closely the example of 'righteous' Lot...

He fled Sodom as it was being destroyed by Jehovah for its wickedness. His wife was killed by God for looking back. Lot moved into a cave with his daughters. He got drunk and impregnated both of his own daughters.

Jehovah always leads his people, even in specific "micro-managed" ways!We have to be willing to do all that Jehovah directs us to do, even if it is hard to do it. Even little things (service, commenting at meetings, getting along, making amends, etc... all parts of our spiritual armor!). Must force ourselves to do it! (Reminded me of another comment recently made at a DC..."make yourself obey...even if it's uncomfortable or difficult... or even if you don't understand why or your heart is not inclined to do it...if you do it, your heart will catch up!!")

Such powerful and motivating information! It's nice to feel safe and secure in the hands of this loving and wise slave! They are an extension of Jehovah's loving hands! Jehovah always leads his people!

So, like Lot, we must flee Sodom, and commit incest. I think maybe Jehovah killed the wrong ones, eh?

Jesus was a false prophet....

i posted this on another thread, but if you read matthew 24, we see that jesus was indeed a false prophet... he doesn't give the day or hour of the end times but he says that this generation will not pass away until all these things occur... and what generation was he talking about?

he was talking to his diciples and telling them you will see this and that and thus and such....especially take a gander at matt 24: 33-36...jesus thought he was living in the last days and that he would come down from a cloud from the heavens...that stars would fall from the sky, and the like... just read it and tell me what you think.

i wonder if jesus was an essene, they thought they were living in the end of time, in fact they predicted a messiah would come during their days... .

Not so fast,... Jesus wasn't the one that wrote Matt. 24 ! I think it was some guy named Bart, or Paul. Remember, Jesus didn't actually write anything. He read stuff a few times, or at least that's what Bart, or Paul wrote. Jesus didn't even own copy of the scriptures, he went to the synagogue like everybody else. So, don't blame Jesus... he didn't write anything down so that nobody could hold it up 2000 years later and say, "See, he was a false prophet!"

After all, Jesus was perfect, right? If he wanted everybody to know what he had to say, he would have invented the Internet. He's like, the teflon prophet... yes, his prophecies are true, it's OUR UNDERSTANDING that's wrong.

Sorry Oz, I guess I've become such a sceptic that in looking for an error, I couldn't find anything not in error.

I'll just mention one oddity of the application of this illustration. Having worked on a farm, I can say with a great deal of certainty that if you plant a field of wheat this year, and come back in about 2000 years, I doubt that you'll find any wheat still growing. Somebody else will have moved in and be raising llamas or garlic or something.

I dunno, I think maybe Jesus was talking about the destruction of Jerusalem in 70CE and not about the Watchtower Corporation in 2008. Or maybe it wasn't an illustration, maybe he was really trying to teach those fishermen how to raise a field of weedy wheat.

i was told not to even look at them when i studied, but i did not buy the satan stuff about them and said well what have the watchtower got to worry about if they have the truth and no skeletons in the closet ?

i was quite tempted to speak to them and felt rude and judgemental , what did you used to think about them when you were dubs in the trufff ?

Yeah, I'm stuck for now. But who has to sit? I scan the program for what I want to critique, then go back to the car, walk the halls, take a nap, or read something.

It's fun to do other naughty things like eat during the session and distract others. And it's amusing to let go a few "silent but deadly" emissions.

This year, I think I'll bring a memorable lunch, something smelly like sardines in mustard, with onions, and crackers that will leave enough crumbs for mention in next year's KM instructions... "Brothers, please do not bring large coolers, glass containers, or sardines and onions on crackers."

As for apostate activity at a convention, I guess I'm aspiring to be, not just a bad example of an elder, but the worst example of a JW.

p.s.: I wish I was a sister and could dress entirely inappropriately. I wonder if anybody sells a backless men's suit, or maybe I'll forget to wear a shirt with my suit and tie.

in defense of the Holy Trinity

i need some help on the holy trinity.

my husband is studying with the witnesses (he's not one of them yet), and is totally buying into the idea that god, jesus and the holy spirit are all separate, not (as i've tried to explain) separate, but also one in the trinity.

i have pointed out the scriptures in john that reference god as the word, and then jesus as the word later.

Elders do not go beyound the things that are written in the Bible. And by extension, they do not go beyond the Bible-based counsel written in the publications of the faithful and discreet slave.

I'm still 'in' and an elder. Both statements are blatently false.

In the first, I think we can all agree that the reasons and procedures for disfellowshipping, as used by the elders, go beyond the things written.

In the second, the FDS has specifically given ORAL instructions and counsel at various meetings and schools for the elders that go beyond what the FDS has WRITTEN in any publications.

In both cases, the R&F isn't supposed to ask, and the hounders aren't supposed to tell.

If any of you don't believe me, I can lend you a 'Billy the Ex-Bethelite" mask and you can attend some of those hounder meetings in my place...

Hey Burn, my fellow country boy. Surely you've considered what it would be like to: Slaughter hundreds of cows in central Jerusalem? While wearing a white robe? In the temple courtyard of Jehovah? In the heat of summer?

I don't know about your experience. Wild stuff we gutted in the woods. Carting a dead deer out to the truck is the hardest part IMO. However, we bled and gutting our domestic cattle, pigs, rabbits, and chickens in the barnyard. What a mess. The first thing they do once they start getting nervous is fight, then unload every bit of fecal matter on everyone and everything nearby (or not so nearby). We would always butcher the larger animals in winter. The stench wasn't so bad when it was freezing out. Chickens would be done in spring and summer. On hot days, the stink was enough to make you puke.

Yes, we still have livestock. But for the last twenty years or so we sent anything larger than a chicken to "the Locker" where the professionals do it. Back in the old days, and still today, we are vegetarians on butchering day. A couple days later, we were indulging in fleshly pleasures again.

All the work of the priests doing the sacrificing at the tabernacle and temple would have been hard work. Just bringing enough wood and water were full time jobs for lots of servants.
